Intelligence Flashcards
Intelligence
the ability to derive information, learn from experience, adapt to the environment, understand, and correctly utilize thought and reason.
Intelligence Test
an individually administered test used to determine a person’s level of intelligence by measuring his or her ability to solve problems, form concepts, reason, acquire detail, and perform other intellectual tasks.
Factor Analysis
Factor analysis is a term used to refer to a set of statistical procedures designed to determine the number of distinct unobservable constructs needed to account for the pattern of correlations among a set of measures
Charles Spearman
Spearman’s two-factor theory proposes that intelligence has two components: general intelligence (“g”) and specific ability (“s”). To explain the differences in performance on different tasks, Spearman hypothesized that the “s” component was specific to a certain aspect of intelligence.
L.L Thurstone
Louis Leon Thurstone proposed theory in 1930’s that intelligence is composed of several different factors. The seven primary mental abilities in Thurstone’s model were verbal comprehension, word fluency, number facility, spatial visualization, associative memory, perceptual speed and reasoning.
Satoshi Kanazawa
Kanazawa argues that people tend to prefer values which they can understand, the more intelligent are more able to understand values which are not instinctive, so they are more likely to adopt and espouse evolutionarily novel values and forms of behavior.
Howard Gardener
The theory claims that human beings have different ways in which they process data, each being independent. The eight types of intelligence described by Gardner include: musical-rhythmic, visual-spatial, verbal-linguistic, logical-mathematical, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal and naturalistic.May 4, 2021

Three intelligences
Social Intellelligence
the ability to understand your own and others actions.
Emotional intelligence four components
self awareness, self management, social awareness, and relationship management
Spearman’s general intelligence
Spearman’s theory of general intelligence is known as the two-factor theory and states that general intelligence or “g” is correlated with specific abilities or “s” to some degree. All tasks on intelligence tests, whether related to verbal or mathematical abilities, were influenced by this underlying g factor
Thurstones General Intelligence
Louis Leon Thurstone proposed theory in 1930’s that intelligence is composed of several different factors. The seven primary mental abilities in Thurstone’s model were verbal comprehension, word fluency, number facility, spatial visualization, associative memory, perceptual speed and reasoning.
