Insurance & licensing Flashcards
There are two organisations that you need to be aware of when it comes to music licensing which are?
PPL and PRS
The main type of insurance relevant to fitness professionals is?
public and teacher liability insurance
If you are in a hired hall (community building) you need?
the PPL Exercise to Music license only and not the PRS element as the building will already have this - the PPL element only can be purchased through PPL PRS Ltd
f you have your own studio or are renting a premises for your business you will need
both a PRS license (under the Fitness and Dance tariff) and PPL license (under the Exercise to Music tariff) - this can be purchased as a combined license through PPL PRS Ltd
If you teach in a gym, leisure centre or club, that venue would what?
cover the licensing and you would not need your own license
Face-to-face mobile Pilates sessions (going to customers homes or doing sessions in parks) you will need ?
the PRS tariff ML (Mobile businesses and limited uses) and the PPL Exercise to Music tariff
If you are playing music during online classes (either one-to-one, small group or large group), you will need the ?
Exercise to Music tariff from PPL, plus the PRS Limited Online Music Licence (LOML).
PPL and PRS do not apply to pre-recorded videos. If pre-recorded footage is an avenue you wish to go down, you will need
permission from the rights holders themselves
If you upload your videos to social media such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube for example, what happens in this case?
PPL and PRS will not cover you. Platforms such as these have their own agreements with the music rights holders, so be aware that your video may be removed or you may be requested to pay further fees to the platform in question.
