What does the law say about Insurance
That a person must not use a Motor Vehilce on the road or any public place without the use of insurance.
That a person must not permit another to use a Motor vehicle on a road or public place.
Is it an offence to use or cause to permit the use of a motor vehicle if insurance has been taken out but a certificate has not yet been issues

How do people offer instant insurance if a certificate need to be delivered
Electronically or delivering it to an agent.
Is driving without insurance a strict liability offence
Yes
Is permitting another to drive without insurance a strict liability offence
No
As driving without insurance is a strict liability offence is it neccesary to prove what the vehicle was being used for
Yes in some circumstances - ie DVD’s in a van being delivered - The Police can not just assume it is for business purposes and must prove that fact which would invalidate insurance for SDP
What is a defence for driving without insurance
That the vehicle is not mine,
That the vehicle is being used as part of employment
That I neither knew or had a reason to believe it was not insured for me to use.
