A small Scottish Harp.
Castanets
untuned percussion, popular in Spanish music, sounds snappy and quick.
Bongo drums
Untuned percussion, the drums are joined in pairs and usually played with the hands, sounds deep and hollow.
Bodhran
A Celtic wooden drum held in one hand and played with a wooden beater, sounds flat and solid, simple/basic almost.
Bassoon
The lowest woodwind instrument, uses a double reed, sounds posh and very skilled in different tones/pitches/ranges.
Bass Drum
Untuned percussion, a bug drum, low in pitch, sounds deep and solid/ flat.
Bass Guitar
A 4 string guitar which is pitched lower than a guitar. Sounds low and sort of zappy.
Brass Band
A band with Brass and Percussion Instruments.
Clarinet
A woodwind instrument which uses a single reed, sounds long and floaty/gentle.
Cello
A string instrument which is larger than a violin and smaller than a double bass, sounds high and deep, gentle, free and floaty.
Cymbals
Untuned percussion, they can be crashed or struck with a stick or beater, sounds messy, clashy and long.
Double bass
The largest and lowest string instrument, sounds deep and unsettling.
Flute
A woodwind instrument which is made of metal, sounds gentle, high pitched, very skilled and recognisable.
Glockenspiel
A tuned percussion instrument with metal bars, sounds high and flat/very gentle and basic/solid.
Güiro
Untuned percussion instrument, hollowed out wood that is scraped with a wooden stick/beater, sounds fast/basic/simple and itchy
Harp
Sounds dreamy and floaty, distinctive.
Harpsichord
always in baroque music, before piano, sounds like a scratchy piano and is distinctive
