Mental Status Exam: what is it and why might you use it.
A
What:
- Assessing how the client is showing up in the room, in real-time
- Can look through your clinical lens, viewing the client from a lens from what you see and notice
Why:
- Suspicion if they are under psychosis, any perceptual or cognitive issue that client may be feeling
- You can use it as a baseline
- Some clients you will never use it and sometimes you use it every. Single. Time.
