a mechanical device that represents the
temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and the jaw members, to
which maxilla and mandibular casts are attached.
o It is used to set artificial teeth in prosthetic appliance
fabrication.
Articulator
it is used as an abrasive to remove
dental plaster from an acrylic resin prosthesis during
the duplicating procedure.
Shell blaster
it is used as an abrasive for
removable partial denture to remove casting
investment. Not advised to use in acrylic and
porcelain as it will destroy or ruin the prosthesis.
Sand blaster
used in the laboratory for heating waxes,
carrying instruments, and other procedures where an
open flame is needed.
Burner
device that causes molten metal into
a mold.
Casting Machine
it is used to fracture or break artificial stone.
Pneumatic Chisel
– it is used for finishing and polishing of dentures.
Chuck
a device where ultrasonic vibration are
necessary to clean dental restorations, appliances, and
small equipment item.
Cleaning Unit
a container in which dental alloys are melted.
Crucible
a device to process dentures. There are
two (2) methods of curing:
a. The short process is done in 20-25 minutes in
boiling water.
b. The long process is done for 9 hours in an electrical
furnace at 90°C.
it is used to form the mold during the
processing of dentures.
Denture Flask
it is used to hold burs, polishing
stones, and mounted points.
Straight Handpiece
same as the straight handpiece,
the revolution per minute is faster and comfortable to the
operator.
Electric Handpiece
– it is used primarily for wax dipping
refractory cast in removable partial dentures.
Beeswax Heater
like chuck, it is used for grinding,
finishing, and polishing procedures in the laboratory.
