- Allocated in a way that is degressive proportionality

ROLE OF THE COMMISSION
Promotes the general interests of the EU by proposing legislation
Enforces action against member states that do not comply with EU law

The presidential candidate suggests commission members and then they are approved by the European Parliament, and the European Council votes by qualified majority - so indirectly elected body
ROLE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE EU
Voice of EU member states, adopting EU laws alongside the EP with ordinary legislative process
COMPOSITION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE EU
Ministers of the member states, they have 10 different compositions based on the policy area being discussed
ROLE OF THE EUROPEAN COUNCIL
Defines the general policy area and direction of the EU, and priorities of the EU

- heads of states from member states - European Council president and European Commission president
ROLE OF THE CJEU
- to interpret EU law and ensure application universally in the EU member states
- annulling legal acts of the EU that may infringe the treaties
- sanctioning EU institutions if an individual has been damaged by a secondary legislation
