Instance types Flashcards
1
Q
Characteristics of A1, M6g:
A
AMR based processors, tiny and efficient
2
Q
Characteristics of T3, T3a and when to use:
A
Burstable instances. When CPU usage is low but with occasional bursts (consume credit).
3
Q
Characteristics of M5, M5a, M5n:
A
steady-state general instances
4
Q
What are the characteristics of “instance storage”?
A
- It is directly (local) attached
- Superfast - because it is directly connected to the hardware
- It is ephemeral/temporary
5
Q
What are the disadvantages of using instance storage
A
It is ephemeral and is not designed for persistent data.
6
Q
Which cases can produce a data loss when using “Instance storage”?
A
Disk fails, HW fails, EC2 instance moves within hosts.
7
Q
What are the characteristics of “EBS”?
A
- It is a Network-attached storage
- Volumes are delivered over the network
- Persistent storage lives on past the lifetime of the instance
- Generally highly resilient
- This storage will survive issues on the EC2 instance
