Inspirational People (TWO) Flashcards
Father Damian of Molokai
In 1873, father Damien asked if he could go to a leper colony on Molokai Island. He was allowed to go but he wasn’t allowed to touch anyone. He ignored that and touched them anyway because Jesus touched them. He built homes, churches and even dug graves off them. He alerted the world that they were human beings that needed kindness and care. He tended to them and showed them kindness. He died 15 years later of the disease.
