What does Inspiration mean? (6 points)

  1. ) The Holy Spirit guided and superintended the writers of Scripture (2 Pet. 1:20-21)

The true theory of inspiration

A

It is:

  • Plenary (which means fully)- true inspiration is entire and without restriction, it includes all and every Scripture (2 Tim. 3:16)
  • Verbal (Latin verbum means word)- because it includes every word (1 Cor. 2:13).

What did Jesus mean when he said that not a jot or tittle would pass from the law until it is fulfilled (Matt. 5:18)?

  • The jot is the smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet.
  • A tittle is the smallest part of a letter (like the dot on an i).
  • Every word is important (Matt. 4:4).
