students spend most of their time mastering what certain philosophers think.

A reading process whose goal is to get a basic idea of what the article is about.
Pre-Read
describes the topic of the text
Focal statement
is a more specific description of the author’s goal.
Thesis statement
A reading process whose goal of the fast-read is to develop a basic understanding of the text.
