The crust is the layer of rock on the skin of the earth
What is basalt?
Basalt is a dark, dense, igneous rock with a fine texture. Found in the oceanic crust
What is granite?
Granite is a light colored igneous rock that is found in the continental crust
What is the mantel?
The mantel is a layer of hot, solid material between the crust and the outer core
What is the lithosphere?
The lithosphere is a rigid layer made up of the uppermost part of the mantle and the crust
What is the asthenosphere?
The soft layer of the mantel on where the lithosphere floats
What is the outer core?
The outer core is a layer of molten iron and nickel that surrounds the inner core
What is the inner core?
The inner core is a dense sphere so solid iron and nickel at the CENTER OF THE EARTH
