Sucking definition
Sucking insects pests cause damage by removing sap from plant tissues
Aphids
Small, secrete a honeydew substance, clusters in large numbers
Scale bugs
Red to black colors, turtle shaped, most easily controlled when insecticide applications are timed for the early stages
Mealybugs
Suck sap out of the plant, honeydew creates black sooty mold
Lace bugs
Lace like covering in body and head, lower leaf covered in black spots, partially transparent
White flies
Resembles a small gnat, leaves a poof of a white cloud
Spider mites
Small with eight legs, can’t see with the unaided eye
Tent caterpillars
Colored larvae, makes a tent out of webs
