Scabies
Contagious disease caused by an itch mite
Transmitted via personal contact
Female mite tunnels into skin depositing eggs & creating a burrow (mm to 1 cm long)
Symptoms appear 3-5 weeks later
Primary lesion (burrows, papules, vesicles)
Severe pruritus that is worse at night
Pediculosis
Lice infestation that can occur in 3 areas:
Head (pediculosis capitis)
Body (pediculosis corporis)
Pubic area (phthirus pubis)
Highly contagious
Female louse reproduces every 2 weeks producing hundred of nits

Lice pierce skin & secrete a toxic saliva pruritus
Pruritus is the major symptom
Other symptoms:
Body lice:
pinpoint red macule, papule or wheal with a hemorrhagic puncture site
Bed Bugs
Parasites living in furniture, walls, floors and bedding Reddish brown in color Attach to skin and suck blood from host Attracted by warmth and CO2 Symptoms: Erythema Pruritic papules
