Input device Flashcards
What’s a input device?
it’s any hardware device that sends data to a computer
State the examples of input device
it’s any hardware device that sends data to a computer
How does keyboard works?
- A key in keyboard is pressed
- A circuit is completed
- The CPU then determines which key is pressed.
- The CPU refers to an index files which identifies which character the key press represents.
What are the advantages of using keyboards?
- It is easy to use for most people
- It’s a well-known method
- Fast entry for entering data
What are the disadvantage of using keyboards?
- Some users have limited arm or wrist usage
- Long term uses can cause RSI (repetitive strain injury)
How does mouse track movement?
The CMOS sensor (a type of sensor that’s in every mouse) record the surface that you’re moving the mouse on. It convert your arm movements to pointer movements.
How many type of mouse are there?
wired, wireless, optical, mechanical, laser, and trackball.
Why is optical mouse better than laser mouse?
Optical mouse offer lower sensitivity with high accuracy. However, laser mouse offer high sensitivity with low accuracy and often causes jitter.
Advantages of using trackerball
- More accurate positioning of the pointer on the screen compare to mouse.
- Need less desk space
- No need to have a flat surface.
Disadvantages of using trackerball
- It’s very costly compare to modern mouse.
- Need some time to practice in order to master using trackerball.
How many types of touch screen are there?
Resistive, capacitive
other:optical imaging, infrared.
Advantages of touch screen.
Easy to use
Faster entry(just by touching the screen)
Easy to clean and maintain
