Inpector Calls: Shelia Flashcards
Stage directions: very pleased with life and rather excited
Had an easy life and suggests she’s childish
It frightens me the way you talk
She recognises how dangerous and worrying her parents viewpoints are
These girls aren’t cheap labour they’re people
Inequality
She tells her father not to “interfere” and calls her mothers actions “vile and cruel”
At the start of the play she calls her parents mummy and daddy shows how she progresses as a character
[as if been crying] I behaved badly I’m ashamed of it
Perhaps shelia being close to Evas age is a reason for her rapid change as she can put herself in her shoes
Sheilas love for Gerald is at first pure and happy she says she should talk [gaily] and in a [playful] manner
Love presented as happy at the start
When she gets the ring “now I really feel engaged”
Suggest money plays a role in their relationship
You were the wonderful fairy prince
Love us linked to romance for women and Sheila uses fantasy imagery to describe how Gerald was to Eva
