Inorganic Chem Lab Flashcards
are widely considered to be the best method for combating dehydration caused by diarrhea generally in 50mL/kg body wt and 100mL/kg given over 4 hours for mild and moderate dehydration respectively.
Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS)
Dose & Dosing regimen of ORS
• 50mL/kg body wt for mild dehydration every 4 hours
• 100mL/ kg body wt for moderate dehydration every 4 hours
• In every diarrheal stool, give 10mL/kg body wt and after 4 hours, the patient is reassessed
• In case the patient is vomiting, give 5mL every 5 minutes increasing gradually as tolerated
addition of water to lime (CaO) with the
liberation of heat
Slaking
This is when certain solid substances, when exposed to air absorb water, enough to form solutions
Deliquescence
When some substances are exposed to air, they lose water to the atmosphere, thereby reducing in weight
Efflorescence
This is when substances absorb water from air, but not enough to form solutions
Hygroscopic
