Q
Describe the differences between innate and adaptive immunity
A

Q
What cells are involved in innate immunity and give a brief description of their role
A
neutrophils - phagocytic, mainly involved in inflammation
macrophages - phagocytic, antigen presenting, cytokine secreting
basophils - allergic reactions e.g eczema, hayfever
eosinophils - parasitic infection
mast cells - anaphylaxis and asthma (IgE binds to allergen, then binds to mast cells. Causes release of histamine.)
NK cells - release lytic granules that kill virus infected cells
