Scene Guard Responsibilities.

A
  • Prevent unauthorised people from entering.
  • Record in notebook details of anyone entering the scene
  • Briefing Authorised people (Entry, Exit, Approach Path)
  • Promptly recording any suspicious activity
  • Avoiding contamination or interference with the scene.
  • Being aware of any animals and remove them from the scene.

Things to consider when on route to the scene.

A
Obtain: 
-Description of the suspect 
-A description of the suspects vehicle
-Suspects direction of travel
-Description of any weapons
Watch: 
-Any vehicles that may have come from the scene.
-Note registration numbers 
Plan: 
-Where you will park
-SFP (Safe Forward Point)
- Initial actions upon arrival.

Obtaining Info on Arrival.

A
  • Locate Informant obtain brief facts.
    -Ask the informant/witness to identify victim/ offender
    or direction of travel, mode of transport with description or rego number.
    -Update comms and advise who is present, details of offender, mode of transport and vehicle details.
  • Ask informant the location of the scene.
  • If possible ask them to remain at a specified place and explain they may need to be interviewed after.

SITREP

A

Keep Comms informed of any changes at the scene, include :

  • Amy info that could help locate the offender
  • Advise on what assistance is needed.
  • Use radio or Mobile Phone in private if possible.
  • Be weary of giving victims particulars over the radio.
  • Provide location of SFP to staff on their way way to the incident.
