Is there a benefit to using a nebuliser over an inhaler?

no evidence to suggest a nebuliser compressor works better than inhalers when taken correctly

why should we never give oxygen to acute exacerbation COPD patients?

b/c risk of decreasing their hypoxic drive = they’ll stop breathing

why are ‘spacer’ devices used?
A
to reduce the deposition in the mouth and throat and reduce the need for precise synchronization of the start of inhalation

Describe which medications you would perscribe at each stage of asthma?
A
- STEP 1 = SABA as needed
- STEP 2= ICS and SABA as needed
- STEP 3= ICS and LABA and SABA as needed

what inhaled medications do we use for COPD?
A
LABAs (long acting beta 2 agonist) and LAMAs (long acting muscarinic antagonist)
= allow for maintenance of bronchodilation
