Inhaled Anesthesia Flashcards
1
Q
Inhaled Anesthesia in general
A
CNS: depression, increase CBF, no analgesia, decrease MAP,
CVS: decrease BP, decrease arrhythmias
RS: depress ventilation
risk in sick patients and to surgeons
O:G (oil gas ratio if high then enters brain rapidly- potency)
B:G (blood gas solubility, low you have a fast wake up)
SVP (saturated vapor pressure- how easy it is vaporizing)
2
Q
Isoflurane
A
SVP : 240 B:G 1.46 O:G 97 MAC 1.3% Halogenated ether Cause: decrease TPR --> decrease BP, hypoventilation, airway irritation
3
Q
Sevoflurane
A
SVP: 157 B:G 0.65 O:G 53 MAC 2.4% decrease TPR - Decrease BP less depression than iso
4
Q
Desflurane
A
SVP: 243 B:G 2.3 O:G 220 MAC 0.8% halogenated hydrocarbon decrease BP sensitizes myocardium dose dependent respiratory depression very expensive
5
Q
Halothane
A
SVP 243 B:G 2.3 O:G 220 MAC 0.8% decrease BP, sensitizes myocardium- arrhythmias resp depression HEPATOTOXIC off market
6
Q
Nitrous Oxide
A
onset rapid not potent MAC 200% no metab provides analgesia mils SNS stim non irritant, augments ventilation Hypoxia risk, arrhythmias, death
