14
Q

Explain what is first angle projection.

A

It is used for building drawings where in relation to front view the other views are drawn in opposite . So as follows: view from above is drawn below front view, view from below is drawn above front view, view to left is drawn to right, view to right is drawn to left. rear view is drawn to extreme right. Sectional view can be drawn either to left or right where space permits.

Q

What is third angle projection

A

This form of orthographic projection used for engineering drawings. in relation to front elevation the other views are arranged as follows.
View from above is drawn above. View from below is drawn below, the view from left is drawn left, view right drawn right, view from rear drawn in extreme rear. Sectional view may be drawn left or right where space permits.

16
Q

What is a pictorial projection?

A

Method of drawing objects in a three dimensional form.

Consists of Isometric, Planometric, Axometric and Oblique, Perspective projections.

17
Q

What is A0 in paper size?

A

AO is equivalent to 841 x 1189mm.

18
Q

What is A1 in paper size?

A

A1 ( 594 x 841mm) or half A0.

19
Q

Explain what working drawings are and what main types are there?

A

Working drawings are scale drawings showing the plans, elevations and sections details and locality of proposed construction. They are divided into the following main types. Location plans (block , site and general), Component drawings ( range and detail drawings) , Assembly drawings ( Assembly details, Exploded views).

20
Q

What are component drawings?

A

They are range drawings scaled of 1:100 , 1:50 or 1 : 20 which show the basic size and reference system of a standard range of components.

21
Q

What are detail drawings

A

They are scales of 1:10, 1:5 or 1:1 , showing all information that is required in order to manufacture a particular component.

22
Q

What is Detail drawings

A

They are scales of 1:20, 1:10 or 1:1 , show all the information that is required in order to manufacture a particular component

23
Q

What is Assembly drawings?

A

Assembly drawings are drawn 1:20 , 1:10 and 1:5 show in detail the junctions in and between the various elements and components of a building.

24
Q

What is general location plans?

A

General location plans, to scales of 1:200 , 1:100 or 1:50 show the general position occupied by various items within the building and identify the location of the principle elements and compositions.

25
Q

What are site plans?

A

plans to scales of 1:500 or 1:200 , they give position f proposed building and general layout of roads, services and drainage on site.

26
Q

What are block plans?

A

Block plans on scale 1:2500 or 1:1250, identify the proposed site in relation to surrounding area.

27
Q

What is exploded views?

A

Assembly drawing which is used to pictorially illustrate how components are assembled.

28
Q

What are main documents used for information in construction project?

A

Work drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, schedules, form of contract document.

29
Q

What are separate and running dimensions?

A

Separate dimensions are normally written above and centrally along the line, figures are vertical lines should be written parallel to the line so they are read from right. Running dimensions are shown cumulatively commencing with zero from a fixed point or datum. These are often written on the cross-line at right angles to the dimension line.

30
Q

Where should contract documents be kept?

A

The contract documents which include working drawings, specification, schedule, bill of quantities, form of building contract should be kept on site for duration of contract. Usually locked in filling cabinet or plan chests in site office, especially overnight and at weekends, with the exception of the signed form of building contract which normally remains off-site and is kept secure in contactors head office. At the end of contract the standard procedure is to archive contract documents, paper work and records for at lest three years.

31
Q

What is s pre tender method statement?

A

The pre-tender statement outlines the sequence and methods of construction upon which the tender is to be based and supports the pre-tender programme which forms the basis for calculating the cost of preliminary.

32
Q

What are the purpose of contract preliminary?

A

To include for pricing of items which cannot be reasonably be included in measured work.

33
Q

What stage are work packages established?

A

Work packages are established at design stage.

They are assigned to local contractor domestic subcontractors
