"Influence of CO2 injection on biomass gasification" Flashcards

1
Q

What range of temperatures does hydrogen gas occur with a peak production?

Q

What effects does CO2 have the ash, in terms of yield?

A

The ash of samples gasified without CO2 were highly corrosive and had greater yields of ash than did samples of biomass WITH CO2.

Q

WHich has greater char yields in gasification: higher or lower linen content biomass.?

A

Higher lignin biomass Has greater char yields, I.e. in the Dermibas study, walnut shells has more reactivity and higher char yields than did oak wood and wheat straw.

Q

Senneca conducted experiments to study the reactivity of chars gasified from 100 to 900 C with the following gasifying mediums: steam, CO2, N2, and O2. What were the findings about the char reactivity? The biomasses samples were olive husks, pine seed shells, and wood chips.

A

The study found that there was highest reactivity of the char related from olive husks due to it’s higher mineral content of potassium oxide. The ratio of the potassium oxide content among the biomass samples is 26:5:1 for olive, pine, and wood chips respectively.

Q

In the Senneca study, what effects does the steam and carbon dioxide concentrations have on the porous structure of e chars?

A

Steam gasification with CO2 was found to increase the microporous structure of the chair but to not have an effect on the microporous structure.
