A
an inflammatory condition caused by exposure of the skin to a substance

Divisions of contact dermatitis
A
Allergic contact: affects susceptible individuals when they come in contact with particular contact allergens
(Causes an allergic/hypersensitivity reaction (exaggerated immune response that can cause tissue damage))
Irritant contact: affects everyone and is due to an irritant/substance causing chemical damage upon contact (Causes cellular injury on direct contact with the skin causing degreasing of the skin (loss of skins natural barrier)
