What are the classic peripheral signs?
A
Petechiae, splinter haemorrhages, osler nodes, laneway lesions, roth spots

When is endocarditis suspected?
A
Fever + New murmur

What are risk factor for IE?
A
valvular disease, tricuspid valve in IVDU, prosthetic valves

What is commonest organism?
A
S Aureus

How is it diagnosed?
A
Blood culture (3 sets) FBC - WCC, haematinics, CRP Urinanalysis ECG Echo - TTE/TOE CT - look for emboli

How is treated?
A
Antibiotics, Surgery (HF, valvular destruction, repeated emboli)
