A
Low grade fever Lymphadenopathy Reddened pharynx Spleenomegaly Rash: macula papular, urticaria lot petechial

Investigations?
A
CBE EUC LFT
Atypical lymphocytosis is key
- that is lymphocytes > 4500
- 10% atypical morphology
Paul BUNNEL test - EBV heterophile antibodies
If heterophile antibodies are negative, EBV specific antibodies IGM

Rx of EBV?
A
Supportive
- paracetamol
- NSAIDs
- fluid good nutrition
- rest
If airway obstruction or life threatening, corticosteroids

Complications of EBV?
A
Tonsillitis
SYSTEMIC EFFECTS
Splenic rupture is life threatening (hypovolemic shock)
