Specific indications: Taken at onset of colds and flu
Eupatorium perfoliatum
Actions: Diaphoretic, diuretic, cholegogue, choleretic, antispasmodic, laxative and emetic in large doses
Immunostimulant –> increases phagocytosis 4x more than echinacea
Cytotoxic, bitter, febrifuge, smooth muscle relaxant
Indications: Influenza and similar illnesses that set into the bones with aching, fever and chills
Synergists of antimicrobials
Piper nigrum: Increases blood levels of nutrients and herbs, adds its own antimicrobial properties
Zingiber officinale: Increases circulation, reduces toxicity of endotoxins, inhibits bacterial resistance mechanisms
Allium sativum: Increases susceptibility of bacteria to abx
Glycyrrhiza glabra: Inhibits bacterial resistance mechaniss, potentiates action of other herbs, increases strength of herbs when tinctured w/ them
