Why is lactate an important marker of septic shock?
A
As lactate is a metabolite of anaerobic glucose metabolism. Elevated lactate ( over 1.5mmol/L ) demonstrated that tissues are being hypoperfused.

A
S aureus and S intermedius
All others are coagulase negative
