Vectors, geographical distribution, presentation and diagnosis

Spread by A aegypti & A albopictus (day-biting)
Africa, Asia, India, Pacific Islands
Symptoms begin 4-8 days after bite
Debilitating joint pain, fever
Muscle pain, headache, nausea, fatigue, rash
Diagnose with ELISA of IgM/IgG anti-Chikungunya antibodies or viral RT-PCR
Symptomatic treatment only
