Colonize the gut (“enteric”):
Proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Serratia spp., Enterobacter cloacae, Citrobacter spp.
Do not colonize the gut:
Pseudomonoas aeruginosa, Haemophilus influenzae, Providencia spp.
Gram-negative coccobacilli
Acinetobacter baumannii, Bordetella pertussis, Moraxella catarrhalis
Gram-negative anaerobes
Bacteroides fragilis, Prevotella spp.
