mycoplasma pneumonia- features + who does it affect?
worsening dry cough, patchy lower lobe consolidation
- occurs in hospitals & unis
also if they mention toe pain - you should know ( this is due to cold autoimmune hemolytic anaemia- a complication of mycoplasma pneumonia)
if patient is MRSA +ve - what is the treatment that should be initiated?
if signs of infection - give abx- vancomycin
if no signs but they are +ve, give nasal mupirocin & chlorhexidine wash - standard decolonisation therapy
erysipelas organism -
cellulitis organism-
erysipelas organism - strep pyogenes
cellulitis organism- staph aureus
most accurate diagnostic test for typhoid
bone marrow aspirate & culture

2 days of fever + sore eyes + white spots on inside of cheeks- dx+ how it spreads?
measles
white spots = Koplik spots
spreads by respiratory droplets
came from Bangladesh (there was recent flooding) + profuse water diarrhoea for last two days that looks like rice water + vomiting - dx + rx + organism
cholera- vibrio cholerae
oral rehydration salts & fluids + abx if infection is severe
treatment for severe cellulitis
IV benzylpenicillin & flucloxacillin
