Ownership
A large organisation that has interests spanning across a number of different businesses or industries.
Vertical integration
A process whereby one company acquires another involved at a different level of the industry. The media institution will operate under separate subsidiaries and production is passed down a chain of command
Horizontal integration
A media company’s ownership of several businesses of the same value . A media company can own film production companies, record labels, television studios, etc
Diversification
Where a company expands its product range or service
Global production
A film production that is globally appealing
Will have genuine fan base across multiple countries
Distribution
All strategies used inorder to push the film out during the releases, marking
Circulation
The number of copies of any product which are distributed eg: uploads, screening, streaming, dvds, blu ray, etc
Digital convergence
Where different media industries and forms merge with another or become closer tied, this is mainly infulusnced by digital technology
Regulation
Where higher authority controls directs and manages activity in the industry
Viral marketing
A method of marketing where consumers are the cause of a media becoming viral due to sharing information
Synergy
The interaction of two or more organisations who work together to increase their revenue
