What were the Stakhanovites?
They were followers of Alexei Stakhanov, who set super-human production records during the five year plans. The Stakhanovites, encouraged by Soviet propaganda, employed hard-work or efficiency savings to try to show their loyalty to the Soviet regime.

The development of heavy industry
