By 1914 Union membership reached 4.1 million. In 1913 number of stoppages was 1459. In 1912 number of working days lost reached 40.9 million

What were the reasons for unrest?
A
By 1912 the cost of living was 14% higher than 1906. From 1910 there were falling levels of unemployment. There was improved education and increased awareness of inequalities. Unions which joined together had more power. There was growing influence from syndicalism.
