Trade union is an organisation that represents workers, protects the rights and negotiate with employers and pay and conditions of work
What is the shop Steward?
This is the trade union representative in the workplace
Types of industrial action
- An official strike
- Work-to-rule
- Go slow
- Overtime bans
- Token stoppage
What is an official strike?
Employees refuse to work for them ploy. The trade union must give the employer one weeks notice of the strike action
What is work-to-rule?
Workers do only what is in their job description
What is overtime bans
Workers refuse to do overtime
What are token stoppages ?
Workers stop working for a short period of time. This can disrupt the flow of work on the day it happens
