Indian subcontinent
It is situated on the Indian Plate and projecting southwards into the Indian Ocean from the Himalayas.
Geography
a small area of land in what is now Pakistan and India. Aside from being on the banks of the large Indus river, the Indus Valley civilization was surrounded by forests, desert, and ocean, making it a very fertile land.
Monsoons
a seasonal prevailing wind in the region of South and Southeast Asia, blowing from the southwest
Environmental Challenges
Floods of the Indus were unpredictable. - Rivers sometimes changed course. The cycle of wet and dry seasons brought about by the monsoon winds was unpredictable.
Harappan cities
Harappa, Ganeriwala, and Mohenjo-daro in modern-day Pakistan, and Dholavira, Kalibangan, Rakhigarhi, Rupar, and Lothal in modern-day India.
Harappan civilization
the earliest known urban culture of the Indian subcontinent. The nuclear dates of the civilization appear to be about 2500–1700 BCE, though the southern sites may have lasted later into the 2nd-millennium BCE.
Harappan Language
The Harappan language is the unknown language or languages of the Bronze Age Harappan civilization.
Harappan religion
religion is polytheistic and is made up of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. There are many seals to support the evidence of the Indus Valley Gods. Some seals show animals that resemble the two gods, Shiva and Rudra.
Harappan trade
The Harappan people used to trade with foreign lands traveling through seas. The seaports found in Harappan civilization state that they were not bound to their own territories. They had traded with Iran and Afghanistan for Minerals, while Lead and Copper were exported from India.
