A

Premed:

  • aspiration prophylaxis (famotidine, metoclopramide, non-particulate antacid)
  • airway analgesia (nebulized lidocaine, viscous lidocaine, lidocaine spray/FO application)
  • 100% oxygen
  • sedation as needed (ketamine, precedex, versed, fentanyl)

Room setup:

  • difficult airway equipment
  • monitors
  • positioning (head up, sniffing, c-spine stabilization)

Induction:
- after intubation (volatile vs IV)

turn off VA

extubate once fully awake
