What is the adult induction dose for Propofol?
1.5 - 2.5mg/kg
What is the onset of action for Propofol?

Why does Propofol cause a drop in blood pressure?
This is mainly due to systemic vasodilation.

- Vasodilation.
- Respiratory depression.
- It has an antiemetic effect.
Why do we use Propofol and how does it work?
It is an induction agent.
Propofol suppresses laryngeal reflexes, allowing LMA insertion.
How is Propofol administered?
Intravenously.
What are the common side effects of Propofol?
- Apnoea
- Arrhythmia
- Headache
- Hypotension (low BP)
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Localised pain

Describe the onset of Thiopentone.
A smooth onset with good definitive endpoints.
When Thiopentone has been administered, what causes intense pain and tissue necrosis?
Extravasation.
When is Thiopentone the drug of choice?
In RSI, seizures & neuro (anticonvulsant).
