Indirect Object Pronouns Flashcards
1
Q
When are indirect object pronouns used?
A
Indirect object pronouns are used to replace a noun that is the recipient of a verb’s action. This is to avoid the noun being repeated unnecessarily.
For example in English:
I gave her the flowers
I gave them to her (them is the indirect object pronoun used to replace flowers)
“Her” (a person) is the indirect object receiving the action of being “gave” (the verb) the flowers.
