A
  1. One can NEVER start a sentence with a pronoun. The verb must go FIRST with the indirect object being connected to it with a “-“
    Ex:
    Not: “O recomendei a Laura.”
    Right: “Recomendei-o a Laura.”
    • The “s” is taken off for verbs with nós for direct object pronouns and an “l” added to the direct object pronoun (like in the infinitive form).
    Not: “Contamos-a à polícia.
    Right: “Contamo-la à polícia.”
  2. One can NEVER put a pronoun after a coma. The verb must go FIRST with the indirect object being connected to it with a “-“ or another “não” can be put after the coma.
Ex: Você escreve um email para eles?

NOT: Não, lhes escrevo um email.
Right: Não, não lhes escrevo um email.
Right: Não, escrevo-lhes um email.

NOT: Sim, lhes ecrevo um email.
Right: Sim, escrevo-lhes um email.

For verbs conjuguated with eu, I can take away “eu” since it is evident that the verb is conjugated with eu, but I can just keep the “eu” to have it after the coma to make things simpler.
