What is neutralisation ?
The chemical reaction between equal amounts of an acid and an alkali
What is the risk in hydrochloric acid ?
Cause harm to eyes and cuts
How do you reduce the risk in hydrochloric acid ?
Wear safety goggles to protect eyes Cover any visible cuts
Do not consume
What is the risk in glass stirring rods ?
Breaking and cutting skin
How to reduce the risk in glass stirring rods ?
Use a test tube holder
Handle glass wear carefully Tell the teacher immediately if anything breaks

Dropping
How to reduce the risk in using a pestle and mortar ?
Do not put fingers in the mortar when crushing the antacids
Be very careful when moving the mortar and only lift when needed (keep on desk if possible)
