The taking away of land from the indigenous people
Stolen Generation
Mixed race/half caste aboriginal children were removed from their families and put into white-run institutions
Breeding out the colour
Deliberate policy to wipe out a race by forcing it’s people to only have children with white people
Assimilation
When a smaller culture loses it’s unique features through becoming absorbed into a larger, more dominant culture
Reserve
Land (often inferior) set aside for Aboriginal communities to live in
Mission Station
A location for missionaries to work with local communities. This commonly consisted of churched, gardens, fields, workrooms, dormitories and schools
Segregation
Allocating different areas for races so that they don’t mix with one another
