Haudenosaunee
The Haudenosaunee is made up of 6 groups of indigenous people who came together to make important decisions, promote peace, and stop the fighting.
Why were the Chinese unwelcome in Canada?
They were unwelcome in Canada because they only had to pay the tax to get into Canada while other people didn’t, and they were treated poorly.
Indian Act
The Indian Act was formed in 1876 to force the Indigenous people to forget their culture and be like ‘regular canadians’
Discrimination
Discrimination means to treat someone unfairly based on their race, gender, age, culture, or religion.
Residential Schools
They were created so that they could teach Indigenous children the ‘ Canadian way of life ‘ which meant the English language, Roman Catholic religion, and how to become a farmer.

What is a reserve?
A reserve is a small piece of land that the First Nations lived on. They could continue their way of living without rules on hunting, fishing, or paying taxes to the government.
Why did people immigrate to Canada?
Potato famine, American Revolution/Loyalists, and poverty.
Chinese Head Tax
It meant that the Canadian Government made Chinese people pay a tax to get into Canada to work on a railroad and get treated unfairly.
