Ashoka
a Mauryan leader who played a huge role in the spread of Buddhism, he won a war where his soldiers slaughtered over 100,000 people but after seeing all the damage he decided to go against war, give up meat, made a policy of Dhamma or the toleration of all life, he ensured Buddhisms survival

- accepted all religious/ethnic groups
- army gave protection from outsiders
- helped Gandhi become a great leader
- removed caste system-makes Indians equal
- helps introduce “world language” of English
- created formal local/stage governments so India had structured government when the British left
