He managed to unite many Indian kingdoms, he was known for his religious tolerance and incredible architecture

By 1700, the Mughals were losing control and wars broke out
How did European nations start to have influence in India?
The British, Dutch and French realised by helping certain Indian princes they could affect the outcomes of the wars they wanted.
How did the European nations receive repayment from the princes they helped?
The European nations could demand rewards from the princes, such as, lands or goods
What is a trading station?
Permanent bases around the Indian coast that were large warehouses surrounded by huge fences and guarded by men with guns.
What happened at the trading stations?
This is where trading took place. There were often workshops or factories within these stations.
What raw goods were made within the workshops of the trading stations?
Raw goods were turned into goods, such as, cotton cloth.
Were Britain in control of India in the early 1700s?
No, they were just one of the many European countries trying to make a profit on the wealth of India.
