Q

Why are some earthquakes more deadly than others?

A

One: the wealth of a country, an LIC can’t make a recovery as well as an HIC as they lack money. And HSBC can adapt and repair and has lots of strong places. LIC is have many mud buildings.
Two: the time of day or year at night time most people are inside and asleep, so it causes more deaths.
Three population and earthquake that doesn’t kill anyone or cause damage is a natural hazard, but if it affects people, it is a natural disaster and the population means there’s more people around, so more damage is likely
For: the depth of focus, the exact point between earths surface and where the earthquake takes place, the closer the focus is to the surface, the greater the damages.
Five magnitude or size, if it is a larger thing on one of the scales, either the Richter scale, the Macaulay scale, all the logarithmic scale it is more dangerous.
Six: geology, hard rock is better and makes it more stable. It will cause less damage than sandstone. Liquid if a solid, where a solid turns to a liquid, because of shaking it forms cracks, where the water seeps in and liquefies the ground.
