Inclined Plane Flashcards
What is an Inclined plane?
It is a flat supporting at a tilted angle with one end higher than the other, used to raise or lower loads
What is equilibrium?
When the net force on an object is zero, the
the object is in equilibrium.
The sum of these forces is zero and the object is in
equilibrium.
What is an equilibrant?
A force that puts an object in equilibrium is
called an equilibrant.
To find the equilibrant, first find the
resultant of the forces being exerted on the
object.
The equilibrant has the same magnitude as
the resultant force, but is in the opposite
direction.
What is the acceleration of gravity
9.8 m/s2
How can you find the force required for equilibrium?
The equilibrant is a force of the same magnitude but opposite direction as the sum of all the other forces acting on an object.
How can you resolve force vector components for motion along an inclined plane?
Using the Laws of sine and cosine
