Process of setting objectives and determining how to accomplish them
What is done in the organising function of management?
Process of arranging resources (including people) to work together to achieve goal
What is done in the leading function of management?
Process of inspiring oneself (or others) to work hard to accomplish tasks
What is done in the controlling function of management?
Process of measuring performance and taking action to ensure planned outcomes are achievable
Define self management?
Individuals control their own behaviour, influencing and leading themselves through specific sets of behaviour and cognitive strategies
How would someone in self management go about planning?
- Use of SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time bound)
- Challenges (pushing your limits)
- Feedback
- Focus on learning not the outcomes
How would someone in self management go about organising?
Manage time, people, work environment, work equipment library
How would someone in self management go about leadership?
Must manage procrastination (organisation, seeing the big picture, remove distractions, counselling for anxiety/depression)

What is the difference between just remembering the solution to a single problem, rather than expanding your critical thinking?
Remembering solution only helps with one problem, RE-evaluating your critical thinking will assist with a whole variety of different problems
What is critical thinking?
Basically evaluating information (examining, analysing, defining etc) and our thoughts in a disciplined way.
Must assess flaws and bias’ in our thinking
Why is critical thinking beneficial?
Helps us to redefine our thought process
Allows us to think and assess information more comprehensively
Helps allow us to identify and reject false ideas/ideologies
