Incisors Flashcards
What is a cingulum?
- The bulge or prominence of enamel found on the cervical third of the lingual surface of all anterior teeth
What are marginal ridges?
- An elevation of enamel which forms the mesial or distal margin of the lingual surface of an anterior tooth or the occlusal surface of a posterior tooth
How large is the crown of an upper central incisor compared to an upper lateral incisor?
Larger than lateral incisors
What is the mesio-incisal angle like on an upper central incisor?
- Sharp
What is the disto-incisal angle like on an upper central incisor?
- More rounded
What is the lingual surface of an upper central incisor like?
- Concave with mesial and distal marginal ridges which meet at the neck of the tooth forming a convex cingulum
What are mammelons?
Cusplets found on the incisal surface of incisors
What type of teeth are mammelons more likely to be fond?
Deciduous teeth
What way does the crown of a n upper central incisor lean?
- Leans lingually
On what side of the upper central incisor does the cervical region have greater undulation?
The mesial side
What is the shape of an upper lateral incisor like compared to an upper central incisor?
Not as rectangular
- Much less bulky and more slender
- The cervical region is narrowed mesio-distally, giving it a long mesial surface
What is the mesio-incisal angle like in an upper lateral incisor?
- Slightly rounded
What is the disto-incisal angle like in an upper lateral incisor?
- Short distal surface with a pronounced rounding of the angle
What can the lingual side of an upper lateral incisor contain which is a pronounced area for caries to form?
An enclosed depression or fossa
On what side of the upper lateral incisor does the cervical region have greater undulation?
The mesial side
