Incisiors Flashcards
What is the shape of the crown and incisal edge of tooth 11 from the labial aspect?
The crown has a rectangular outline, with the incisocervical dimension greater than the mesiodistal dimension. The incisal edge is almost straight.
What unique features are seen on the lingual aspect of tooth 11?
Narrower crown compared to the labial aspect, prominent cingulum (off-center towards the distal), and sometimes lingual ridges extending into the lingual fossa.
How does the cervical line differ on the mesial aspect of tooth 11?
The cervical line shows the greatest curvature towards the crown compared to other aspects.
Describe the shape of tooth 11 from the incisal aspect.
The crown is triangular, wider mesiodistally than faciolingually, and tapers towards the lingual aspect.
How does the crown shape of tooth 12 differ from tooth 11?
The crown is more rounded with a trapezoidal shape. The mesioincisal and distoincisal angles are more rounded compared to tooth 11.
What is a significant risk feature found on the lingual surface of tooth 12?
A lingual pit is often present at the incisal end of the cingulum, which is at greater risk of becoming carious.
Where is the incisal edge located on the mesial aspect of tooth 12?
The incisal edge is on or slightly labial to the root bisector line.
How is the cingulum of tooth 12 positioned differently from tooth 11?
The cingulum is prominent and centered mesiodistally, unlike tooth 11 where it is off-center towards the distal.
